Suspending it is pointless because that only suspends the SIM card, which you would have removed. Until then the phone number remains and the device will sit there in your AT&T account. Since it won't turn on it's unlikely that Wi-Fi is going to help oh, somebody would have to install an active SIM card and hope that works. Mailed old, non-working phone to the insurance co. Got new phone, switched SIM card, so new phone works. Accessed the AT&T insurance policy I'd purchased. My old phone went into my pool - yea, dumb! Once retrieved, obviously it didn't work.
